About Me:

Lorna is a Hertfordshire-based author–illustrator who has been dreaming up characters, costumes, and imaginary worlds ever since she could hold a pencil. After graduating with an MA in Womenswear Fashion Design from the Royal College of Art, she spent 15 years as a fashion and textile designer before leaping into children’s publishing.

When her son Arlo was born, she rediscovered the magic of picture books and soon began crafting her own stories. She studied Children's book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art summer school, and has recently graduated from the Golden Egg Picture Book Writing Mentorship.

Her illustration work has been shortlisted for the 2025 Pittville Press Cheltenham Illustration Awards and included in the travelling exhibition.

Lorna enjoys writing stories with warmth or humour, ideally both. She loves the wonderful unpredictability of children and their curious questions. When she’s not at her desk, Lorna can be found running art events in her community or wandering the woods with her family.
